What makes this training different
Built on real public-sector experience
Course material is grounded in years spent inside local government, public safety, and special districts, on the staff side and the board side. The scenarios come from actual board rooms, budgets, and contracts, not from a template.
Practical before theoretical
Courses are organized around decisions you actually make: setting a rate, reviewing a contract, running a compliant meeting, working with consultants. Theory appears when it earns its place.
Designed for working adults
Self-paced, structured, and direct. Built for busy professionals, volunteer board members, and public employees balancing training with real responsibilities.
Documentation your organization can point to
Certificates of completion and stated contact hours give boards and districts a record of training participation they can reference publicly and stand behind.

One undertrained board member is a risk. A trained board is an asset your community can see. GovLeaders Academy gives organizations a structured way to train boards, staff, and professional teams through course series, annual subscriptions, and board packages.
Built for MUDs, WCIDs, water districts, ESDs, local governments, public-sector agencies, consulting firms, and professional associations.
Built for Public-Sector Organizations
Organization options are designed for teams, boards, and agencies that need consistent professional development across multiple people.
Choose the structure that fits your organization
Course Series Access
Give your board or team a focused Course Series aligned to governance, leadership, compliance, public finance, or district operations. The right choice when the training need is specific.
- One series, every member
- Six-month access per learner
- Certificates for completed courses
Full Board Access
Twelve-month access to the entire Academy catalog for up to five users. Every director trains from the same material, and the district can document it. The offer most boards should start with.
- Up to 5 users, full catalog
- Staff add-on seats available
- Completion tracking and documentation
Individual and Enterprise Subscriptions
Individual All-Access runs $1,499 per year for one learner across the entire catalog. Larger staff groups, agencies, and associations receive custom enterprise pricing scoped to seats and needs.
- Individual All-Access: $1,499/yr
- Staff add-ons: contact the Academy
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Organization pricing varies with seats, access level, course selection, and subscription length. The Academy quotes options that fit the organization's needs and budget. Organizations can pay by credit card, invoice, or purchase order; government purchasing processes are expected and welcome, and the Academy completes vendor registration and W-9 requirements as needed. Subscriptions renew automatically when paid by card, and invoice and purchase order accounts are re-invoiced ahead of each renewal date, in step with your budget process.
Consistent training your district can document
When every board member and staff member trains from the same material, the organization gains something a conference badge cannot provide: a shared baseline, a record of participation, and fewer avoidable mistakes in public.
- Annual access options for organizations
- Seat-based access for board members, staff, or teams
- Course series aligned to governance, leadership, compliance, and operations
- Certificates of completion for eligible courses
- Completion tracking and documentation
- Scalable training for boards, agencies, districts, and associations
- Custom training available as a separate service

Contact the AcademyCustom Online Training
Digital training built around your organization's real needs, challenges, and workforce goals.
Built around your organization, from the first conversation
GovLeaders Academy develops custom online training for public-sector organizations that need practical, structured, professional learning. Training is built inside an online platform as self-paced instruction, instructor-led online training, or a blended digital model.
Before development begins, GovLeaders Academy works with your organization to understand the training need, identify obstacles, clarify goals, and build a plan of action. That intake is what separates a useful solution from a slideshow with your logo on it. When a project calls for specialized expertise beyond the Academy's core scope, fully vetted subject matter experts are brought into the project, and into the quote, before any work begins.
The Academy does not currently provide in-person custom training. The focus is digital course development that can be delivered consistently, scaled across an organization, and accessed from wherever your people serve. Custom courseware is exclusive to your organization. It is delivered only through your organization's access in the Learning Portal and is never added to the public catalog.
Organizations preparing for promotions can pair custom training with promotional exam preparation.

- Programs from 4 to 120 contact hours (larger reviewed case by case)

Promotional Examinations
Custom written promotional exams, developed and administered independently through GovLeaders Advisory, with agency-purchased preparation training from GovLeaders Academy.
One service, two divisions, deliberately separated
A promotional exam is a selection instrument, and agencies deserve a process their people can trust. That trust is protected by a deliberate separation across the divisions of GovLeaders Group: GovLeaders Advisory develops and administers the examination. GovLeaders Academy prepares the workforce.
Examinations are custom written from the source materials your agency designates, plus your own policies and procedures, so the exam tests the job your people actually do. Administration is virtual and independent, which removes the perception of favoritism that follows any exam graded inside the building.
Built for law enforcement, fire, and public safety organizations of every kind: corporals through captains, detectives and investigators, crime scene and arson personnel, supervisors, managers, and directors. Sworn or civilian, field or administrative.
Delivered Through GovLeaders Advisory
- Custom examination development from agency-designated sources
- Agency-specific items tied to internal policies and procedures
- Independent virtual administration and proctoring
- Scoring, reporting, and appeals review support
- Civil service requirements under Chapter 143 identified before any work begins
Preparation Through the Academy
- Custom study guides built on the designated sources
- Self-paced online preparation courses
- Instructor-led online preparation courses
- Purchased by the agency, provided to every candidate
Preparation that teaches the job, not just the test
Agencies can pair an examination with preparation training purchased by the agency for all candidates: custom study guides and self-paced or instructor-led online preparation courses.
Preparation courses are designed to teach the real skills of the next rank while preparing candidates for the exam, so the agency's investment pays off whether or not a candidate promotes this cycle. Preparation is provided to the agency for every candidate. It is never sold to individual test takers.
College Advising for Public-Sector Professionals
Practical degree pathway planning for adults who want legitimate, affordable, and accredited education options.
No college, some college, a lot of college, or a degree you want to build on?
GovLeaders Academy helps public-sector professionals understand where they stand, what options exist, and how to move forward through legitimate, accredited, affordable education pathways. A strong public-sector workforce is built on training, education, and experience together. Formal education is not the only measure of competence, but it strengthens credibility, improves decision-making, and expands career options.
More than one hundred public servants have been guided through pathways to complete their college education: affordably, faster, and from reputable institutions, often without depending on federal student loans to get there.
The advising process identifies eligibility for alternative college credit sources, evaluates credit for prior learning and prior learning assessments, and reviews military training, public safety training, and every piece of college-eligible coursework you have completed, regardless of where you took it, when you took it, or what discipline it is in. Then it prepares you for official advising, admissions, and registration, with a central goal of avoiding unnecessary student debt through practical, transfer-friendly, cost-conscious pathways.
Guidance is informed by national-level work evaluating workforce training programs for college credit recommendations, developing national examination content for adult learners, and years of experience as university faculty.
What Advising Covers
- Identify your current academic standing
- Review unofficial transcripts and prior credit
- Review alternative credit sources (CLEP, DSST, military, professional training)
- Identify gaps in degree completion
- Compare accredited, transfer-friendly pathways
- Prepare for official advising, applications, and registration
- Build an education plan around cost, speed, and credibility

Inquire About Series SponsorshipWhat Sponsors May Receive
A Practical Sponsor Introduction
Sponsored courses may include a short sponsor segment that helps learners understand who the sponsor is and how its work connects to the topic. It reads like a brief professional introduction, consistent with the course experience. It is never a sales pitch.
Possible formats: short video introduction, written sponsor profile, practitioner perspective segment, brief interview clip, field-based insight, or "what boards should know" commentary.
All sponsor information is reviewed and approved by GovLeaders Academy before publication. The Academy keeps editorial and instructional responsibility for all course content, and every piece of sponsored content carries a visible "Supported by" label, so learners always know what is sponsored and what is not.
